Master Class Under Way
First Rehearsal excites students
|
Dear Family and Friends,
McCallum orchestra students had their first rehearsal of their week-long Neapolitan Master Class yesterday and the excitement about the performance at the Long Center is building. Maestro Gioacchino Longobardi and Alberto Vitolo arrived in Austin this week and introduced the McCallum orchestra students to the Sounds of Naples.
There is a lot of work for the students and teachers with just a week to prepare for their performance at the Long Center. The students were very attentive at their first rehearsal and everyone was eager to get through the first piece. It seems music is the universal language as Alberto instructs the students in Italian.
We hope you will join us next Sunday, 6 P.M. at the Long Center for this concert. You will hear some of the most beautiful music ever composed and learn about the fascinating story behind this lost music. It is a benefit concert and a portion of the ticket sales goes to the McCallum Orchestra Scholarship Fund to help deserving students reach their goal of performing on the Carnegie Hall stage. Tickets for Sunday's performance are available at the Long Center either online or by phone, 512.474.LONG, or you can save the $4 service charge by purchasing your tickets at the Long Center Box Office.
