Gioacchino Longobardi

The Piano Master Class: Encounters with the Maestro

Maestro Longobardi, a direct descendant in a line of masters of the Neapolitan School of 18th Century, is pleased to offer the chance to experience his knowledge and teaching methods of 18th Century Neapolitan keyboard technique.

He will prepare the students for the challenge of playing masters such as Scarlatti, Durante, Cimarosa, Porpora, among others, at the highest level, and present helpful instruction on topics ranging from practice and performance skills to instrumental technique.

The experience will deepen the student’s understanding of the Neapolitan masters and their unique contributions.

The duration of each encounter is flexible to meet the needs or your students and budget.

Gioacchino Longobardi

One option is for Maestro Longobardi to come to your school to perform and lecture on the techniques and specific approach employed by the Neapolitan Masters.

Another option is one on one instruction with your students or each student in a classroom setting.

The music would arrive prior to the class, in order to give the students time to work on and familiarize themselves with the music. Maestro Longobardi will listen and instruct each student individually. He will teach the techniques necessary to achieve optimal results and the specific approach, which is a precise method of performance forged by the Neapolitans.

The Piano Master Class: Encounters with the Maestro is available to high school and college students.

Rates for piano Master Class will be determined after specific arrangements are made for your program. The Master Class cost will be based on the number of students, instruction time provided and length of the program. For example, Maser Class rates for daily group instruction (two hours) plus individual instruction (1 hour per student) for up to four students would be $300 per day. Additional direct costs for concert performance, travel and per diem would be assessed separately.
