Maestro Longobardi Leads Concert in Kiev

rehearsal

It is our pleasure to announce that our President was recently in Kiev, Ukraine to conduct the State Academic Orchestra of Ukraine.

Mº Longobardi led the orchestra in three works - world premiere performance - composed by Mº Giuseppe Devastato, Artistic Adviser to NMS, and also works from Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Cimarosa.

The program was:
Domenico Cimarosa Symphony from Li Sposi per Accidenti
Sergei Prokofiev Symphony n. 1 Classical
Gioacchino Rossini Overture to L'Italiana in Algeri
Giuseppe Devastato Romanza per Orchestra

Melody for an angel
Tus Manos Como Alas Dorada
Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet

The Orchestra was very intrigued and receptive to the new works and performed beautifully. Mº Longobardi spent 4 days in rehearsal prior to the concert, describing the experience in this way:

"It was very regenerating to work with musicians who believed, as I do, that time in music is the most essential element that leads to a deeper evaluation and understanding of what it really means to be a musician.

The importance of such experience has strengthened my already profound certainty that it is a false belief, on the part of many, that orchestras like to play and not to talk. Orchestras are formed by human beings and they are not interested in someone 'beating tempo'. They share emotions with those who share theirs with them."

A beautiful experience in a very beautiful city.
